Quickly add $ before all numbers


In Excel it's easy to add a $ to numbers (e.g., 123 becomes $123). But Word has no cell formats, and numbers vary and are scattered in different places — what can you do?

  1. Press Ctrl + H to open Find and Replace
  2. Find what: (<[0-9])
  3. Replace with: $\1
  4. √ Use wildcards

  • <[0-9]: content that starts with a digit
  • (<[0-9]): convert (<[0-9]) into an expression
  • \1: the first expression
