To sum across worksheets, you might select each sheet’s range with the mouse (very slow), or use Consolidate (faster). But this time I’ll show how to do it with a single SUM formula!
- We can enter a single formula to make Excel sum the same cell across different worksheets — so what is that formula?
- For example, if we need to sum B2 from Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr and put the result into the B2 cell for months Jan–Apr, the formula is:
=SUM('*'!B2)
- After pressing Enter, Excel will automatically expand the worksheet-name portion of the formula into Jan through Apr — amazing, right?!
