Easily convert numbers to Chinese uppercase numerals


When filling a check in Excel and you need the amount in Chinese uppercase numerals, you wouldn't type each Chinese character individually. It turns out Excel has a very quick method…

NUMBERSTRING(Value,Type), where Value is the original value to convert and Type is the target format.
  • Type 1: convert to Chinese lowercase numerals. Formula =NUMBERSTRING(B3,1)
  • Type 2: convert to Chinese uppercase numerals. Formula =NUMBERSTRING(B4,2)
  • Type 3: convert to simplified Chinese numerals without units. Formula =NUMBERSTRING(B6,3)
Right-click the cell, then under Format Cells -> Custom enter:
[DBNum2]
This will convert numbers to Chinese uppercase numerals. By the way, DBNum1 and DBNum3 produce different results:
